History

Bank Danamon Indonesia was established in 1956 under the name of PT Bank Kopra Indonesia. In 1976 the name was changed to Bank Danamon Indonesia. Bank became the first bank which pioneered the exchange of foreign currency in 1976 and listed its shares on the stock exchange since 1989.

In 1997, as a result of the financial crisis in Asia, Bank Danamon experiencing liquidity problems and eventually placed under government supervision or IBRA IBRA (in English better known as IBRA) as the bank was taken over (BTO - Bank Take Over). In 1999, the government through the IBRA to recapitalize the Bank amounting to Rp 32 billion in Government Debt (Government Bonds).
