Center For International Forestry Research (CIFOR)

The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) advances human wellbeing, environmental conservation and equity by conducting research to inform policies and practices that affect forests in developing countries. We are one of 15 Centers within the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). Our headquarters are in Bogor, Indonesia, and we have offices in Asia, Africa and South America.

Responsibilities :

Overview
CIFOR has greatly increased its use of photos and videos in an effort to promote the organisation’s work and connect its research outputs with target audiences. The Video & Photo Editor will be responsible for leading this initiative and for further strengthening the institution’s use of multimedia products.


Key tasks
1. Manage the workflow of the video and photo unit, including supervising consultants.
2. Take responsibility for maintaining the high quality of all photo/video outputs.
3. Find new opportunities to use videos and photos to promote CIFOR’s work to a broad audience.
4. Shoot photos and videos in the field in Indonesia and internationally.
5. Manage CIFOR’s YouTube and Flickr accounts.
6. Edit multilingual video stories and photo essays.
7. Carry out other activities as requested.

Requirements :
Education, experience and technical skills

  • Degree in a related discipline
  • At least 5 years experience taking photos, shooting video and editing
  • Knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Premier and PhotoShop
  • Fluency in English. Other major languages an asset.

  • Initiative and ability to work independently as well as in team environments
  • Strong client service approach
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively and positively interact with people in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment – including CIFOR staff, management and external contractors/suppliers
  • Ability in personal organisation, planning, priority setting and managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Terms and conditions

  • This is a nationally recruited position. CIFOR offers a competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and experience.
  • The initial appointment will be for two years starting as soon as possible, with possible extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position and available resources.
  • The duty station will be at CIFOR headquarters in Bogor, Indonesia, with travel to research sites.
